The Mad Scientist's Laboratory

This is my entry for the 2023 Grads in Games Rising Star project. My name is Marcus Jose and I'm a first year studying BA (Hons) Game Art at Falmouth University.

For this project I chose the prompt 'The Interchange' and the scene shows 2 teleportation devices in a laboratory/warehouse. The  teleportation devices have been created by a mysterious mad scientist. The scientist remains unkown.

I wanted to make the laboratory and the devices look atmospheric, powerful, dangerous, consuming, and spooky. This project has been influenced by movies such as 'The Fly' (1986), 'The Prestige' (2006), and the palette for the scene was inspired by sci films such as 'The Matrix' (1999). A lot of my artwork is influenced by movies and this proves to be a constant source of inspiration for myself.

The project remains in a prototype stage and I would very much like to develop the concept further in the future.
